Mallorie Alexis Evans and Edward Jesse Mendence were married at 4 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 13, 2008, at Frost Chapel, Berry College in Rome. The bride is the daughter of Michael Evans and Julie Evans, both of Maryville, Tenn. She is the granddaughter of Charles and Dorothy Belcher and Zoe Ella Evans, all of Maryville, and the late Clifford Evans. The groom is the son of Jan Mendence of Rome and the late Donald Mendence. He is the grandson of Janet Vollone of Naugatuck, Conn., the late Edward Vollone and the late Albert and Lucy Mendence. The Rev. Lisa Blackwood of Maryville, Tenn., performed the double-ring ceremony before an altar decorated with two arrangements featuring pink stargazer lilies, pink roses, dahlias, larkspur, curly willow and hypericum berries. A program of wedding music was provided by organist Neil Sanders. Selections included “Canon in D,” “Trumpet Voluntary,” “Bridal Chorus” and “Wedding March.” Amy Wilks of Maryville, Tenn., was the maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Lauran Canacaris, Gina Fortenberry, Meg McCord and Leah Thompson, all of Maryville, Tenn. The maid of honor wore a knee-length strapless dress of pale pink satin with two bead and lace floral accents on the shirred bodice. The bridesmaids wore strapless, floor-length gowns in chocolate brown satin with floral accents at the bodice. The attendants carried bouquets of pink oriental lilies, pink roses and hypericum berries. The flower girls were Elizabeth and Maggie West, both of Maryville, Tenn. They wore matching sleeveless dresses made from ivory chiffon with chocolate brown sashes featuring each girl’s monogram. They carried ivory lace baskets filled with rose petals. The bride, given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, wore a formal gown of ivory French lace. The strapless dress was accented with ruffled lace at the sweetheart neckline and featured shirred pleats at the bodice and ivory satin ribbon tied in a bow at the waist. Layers of pleated French lace completed the skirt of the gown and ended in a chapel-length train. She wore a veil of the same French lace. The bride carried a bouquet of white and pink lilies, pink roses and hypericum berries. Tyler Humbert of Loudon, Tenn., was the best man. Groomsmen were Ryan McDaniel of Maryville, Tenn., Donnie Mendence and Zach Mendence, brothers of the groom and Josh Mullinax, all of Rome. The mother of the bride wore a black satin sleeveless gown with a shirred bodice and a floral accent at the waist. The mother of the groom wore a turquoise satin suit with a floor-length skirt and a three-quarter sleeve jacket featuring a shirred waist with a rhinestone closure. The mothers of the bridal couple were presented with nosegays of pink and ivory roses, accented with natural wheat. The grandmothers were presented with corsages of pink roses and natural wheat. Following the ceremony, a reception was held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Refreshments included the bride’s three-tier round cake with pastry cream filling covered in ivory butter cream icing. Each layer was decorated with icing to create a pearl and lace pattern, culminating in the couple’s monogram on the top layer. Flowers matching the bride’s bouquet completed the cake’s decorations. The groom’s cake was a round chocolate cake featuring a football with the Maryville College logo. The evening before the wedding, the rehearsal dinner was hosted by Dr. and Mrs. James Santoro at their home with the help of Lauren Abrams, Rudy and Sherry Childs and the groom’s mother. The morning of the wedding, Liz Williams provided a breakfast for the bride and bridesmaids. Other pre-nuptial parties included two showers in Rome hosted by Claire Mangraviti and Teresa Resch at Harvest Moon Café and the other hosted by Ted and Dawn Boyd at their home; two other showers took place in Maryville, Tenn., at the home of Amy Wilks hosted by the maid of honor and her mother, Lisa Wilks and a shower held at the home of Beth McDaniel hosted by Beth and Becky Bailes and Rhonda Watson.
