A man was seriously injured after a fall from a bucket truck at Romes First Baptist Church on Fourth Avenue Tuesday afternoon.
According to Rome police at the scene, the man was cleaning part of the building when the supports on the left side of the truck pushed into the ground. The truck flipped on its side and crashed in the courtyard of the church around 2:30 p.m.

Lt. Paul Greene identified the man as Johnny Studdards. Greene said he was taken to Floyd Medical Center initially and later transferred to Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanoog

Witnesses who helped at the scene said Studdards was severely injured. He was still breathing when rescue and EMS crews took him from the scene.
According to 911 dispatches, the man fell from about 50 feet and OSHA was called to the scene.
Greene said Rome Police secured the scene and are preserving it for OSHA investigators to determine the actual cause of the accident.
East First Avenue was closed temporarily around 5:15 p.m. at Fourth Avenue while the truck was being removed.
