The wet weather from earlier today has held off so far this evening, and already it has been a good night for Greater Rome teams. At the half, Rome makes a big statement about the rest of their season by leading the Bruins 17-6, the Dragons enjoy blackout night up over Rockmart 35-7 at the half.
Rome 17, Northwest Whitfield 6
The Wolves started tonight's game in Tunnel Hill over the Bruins by making a big statement on their first possession, and with 45 seconds burned off the first quarter clock Wolves fullback P.J. Green went to the house with a 50-yard touchdown on a 2nd and 6 play.
Rome was given a gift late in first after Van Calhoun picked off a quarterback Dean Hayes pass deep in Northwest Whitfield territory. Calhoun got it down to the 3-yard line and that was followed up by a Green touchdown from the 2-yard line to put the Wolves up 14-0 at the end of the period.
Hayes put the Bruins on the board with a 15-yard touchdown run on a quarterback keeper with 9 minutes left to play in the second, but Northwest Whitfield missed the point after as their kicking game has continued to slide downward throughout the game.
A end of the second field goal attempt with 35 seconds left on the clock was missed wide right, and Rome went into the locker room up after they hit a field goal of their own midway through the second.
Pepperell 35, Rockmart 7
Blackout night in Lindale is proving to be successful for the Dragons, who are up 35-7 over Rockmart after having gone down briefly in the first quarter to the Jackets 7-6. Pepperell came thundering back with Brandon Whitaker leading the way with three touchdowns.
Rockmart was up briefly after Pepperell scored their first touchdown in the first on a 51-yard touchdown run by Brandon Haywood, but the lead didn't last long for the Jackets in the first quarter after Whitaker continued to dominate the offense with his second touchdown of the night.
Whitaker, who has 122 yards on 14 carries with 4 touchdowns so far tonight, has been the leader against the Jackets defense, who at first had the Dragons struggling to get into stride, but that didn't last long as they came out with big plays in the second quarter.
Pepperell also had a passing touchdown from Jonathan Watters to Cameron Ball on an 11-yard play.
A fog rolled in near the end of the half after Whitaker scored his fourth touchdown, making play difficult to see on the field, but that didn't matter much for the Dragon defense
Adairsville 18, Chattooga 14
The Tigers lead at the half by four after going up 6-0 in the first quarter on a Tyree Brown 1 yard touchdown run, but the kick was wide left at the end of the 13 play, 51 yard drive.
Adairsville scored first in the second for another quick six points on a 16 yard pass from Brown to Catlin Alford, but the run by Chris Cowart failed to convert for two points.
Chattooga followed that up with two back-to-back touchdowns, both scored by Ramsey on a 1-yard and 2-yard run. The second touchdown came in on a fourth and goal for the Tribe.
Adairsville was able to rally and Brown hit Cymon Farmer on a 62-yard touchdown pass with 50.9 seconds left in the half, but the Tigers were still unable to convert for two points to end the half.

On a gutsy play by Gordon Central, the Warriors put up a onside kick after the touchdown and recovered to set up a 23 yard touchdown by quarterback Dre Prather for their fifth score of the evening.
The Warriors aren't the only one scoring off of fumbles tonight, as Coosa put their first points on the board in their game against Armuchee to go up 7-0 at the half on a 22-yard fumble recovery by Eagle Nick Mitchell with under two minutes left on the clock in the half.
