Approved nominations to fill vacancies on the Hospital Authority of Floyd County:
Reappointments of Jerry Norman (through 4/1/2012); Billy Burk (through 4/1/2012); Sam Burrell (through 4/1/2013); and David Johnson (through 4/1/2013).
The Hospital Authority recommended the reappointments and will now forward them to the Floyd County Grand Jury, which makes the appointments under state law.
JUDICIAL SERVICES COMMITTEE report:
Jennings said he planned to talk to the Rome City Commission about sending a representative to the judicial services committee and combining the city and county public safety committees.
The two joint committees would then become subcommittees of a new Criminal Justice Committee that would bring together all local and locally based courts, law enforcement, probation and emergency services.
The goal is to avoid duplication and make it easier for the entities to work together for the community as a whole, he said.
A separate initiative to link their communications systems is ongoing.
APPROVED CONSENT AGENDA:
Tax Refunds
Execution of Hangar Lease Agreement between J. P. Wolbert and Floyd County for Hangar #62 at Richard Russell Regional Airport.
MANAGERS REPORT
Awarded Bid for Logging Recorder for E911 Department to low-bidder Clearvoice for $18,854. The device records all voice calls and text messages that come in to the 911 Center.
Approved Addendums No. 1 and No. 2 between Floyd County and ADAMS Management for Parking Deck and Town Green Projects.
The addendums extend ADAMS contract through the end of February as project manager for the 385-space parking deck and town green next to The Forum downtown.
Click here to see the site plan for the projects.
Assistant County Manager Blaine Williams said the deck is slated for completion by mid-March and the town green should be done shortly after that if the price fits the budget.
The 2006 special purpose, local option sales tax package contains $1.69 million for the town green and interactive fountain on the riverfront between The Forum and the bond-funded deck.
Well get the pricing in about a month, then decide if we have the money to move forward, Williams said. If not, well have to make some adjustments to the design.
Cost of the contract extensions is an additional $38,322 for the deck and $7,072 for the green. The money will come from an owners contingency
ATTORNEYS REPORT:
Adopted a Resolution Authorizing Execution of Reimbursement Agreement between Georgia Subsequent Injury Trust Fund and Floyd County Board of Commissioners related to Anthony D. Harrison Workers Compensation Claim.
County Attorney Tommy Manning said the fund will reimburse the county for Harrisons claim totaling more than $100,000.
The money will go back into the countys workers compensation fund.
