The 13th annual Chili Cook Off, sponsored by the Coosa Valley chapter of Trout Unlimited, is slated for this Saturday at Ridge Ferry Park.
According to Ken Colston, one of the event organizers, people may still enter a team in the competition but must register by this afternoon.
He said you may enter a team by downloading the required entry forms and regulations from the official web site, www.tuchilicookoff.org, and bring the completed forms and the $40 registration fee to Ridge Ferry Park by today at 5 p.m.
Cook teams will assemble and set up cooking areas in the park on Friday night, and a team meeting will be at 8 a.m. on Saturday.
The gates open to the public at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday. Admission is $5 for adults and $2 for children 12 and under.
There will be awards presented for the People's Choice chili, the Judge's Choice chili, and the best-decorated cook site. The award ceremony will begin around 2 p.m. Colston said around 6,000 people attended last year's event.
The proceeds from the cook off go to fund Trout Unlimited programs, including a college scholarship, fishing days and environmental education and projects.
