Natalie Jane Berry and Ryan Stanton Murphy were married at 5:30 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 4, 2008, at St. Peters Episcopal Church in Rome.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Lowry Berry Jr. of Rome. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Marion Tayloe and Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Floyd Morrison, all of Bristol, Va., and the late Dr. and Mrs. Robert Lowry Berry Sr.
The groom is the son of Cynthia Stanton Murphy of Rome and the late Groze Murphy Jr. He is the grandson of Mrs. Clarence Hayden Stanton of Macon, the late Clarence Hayden Stanton and the late Mr. and Mrs. Groze Murphy Sr.
The Rev. Janice Bracken Wright of Rome performed the double-ring ceremony before an altar decorated with bouquets of Bells of Ireland, Oriental lilies, Virginia roses and antique hydrangea. Moss covered cones holding ivory roses and hydrangea were placed on family pews.
A program of wedding music was provided by organist Wanda Hillman and trumpeter Adam Hayes, both of Rome. Selections included preludes Simple Gifts, Rigaudon, Air on a G String, La Rejouissance, Panis Angelicus, Sheep May Safely Graze, Sleepers, Awake, Trumpet Tune, Trumpet Voluntary, Hymn 57, All Things Bright and Beautiful, Hornpipe and Toccata.
Lowry Berry Harrington of Nashville, Tenn., sister of the bride, was the matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Anne Elizabeth Dawson of Athens, Misty VanLandingham Fountain of Mableton, Kimberly Murphy Moseley of Rome, sister of the groom, Mary Kathryn Summer of East Point, Fla., and Laura Howse Walley of Rome. Attendants wore strapless red satin gowns in varying lengths accented by latte satin sashes and trim. The bridesmaids carried bouquets of Opium roses, mango calla lilies, dahlias, and antique hydrangea with accents of lambs ear and fall berries.
Sara Hadley Harrington of Nashville, Tenn., niece of the bride, was the flower girl. She wore a sleeveless floor-length dress with empire waist made of pearl silk dupioni with matching sash. She carried a pomander made of Bells of Ireland.
The bride, given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, wore a strapless A-line gown with empire waist and chapel-length train made of tiered layers of ivory silk organza. Her chapel-length veil of silk illusion was trimmed with an ivory braid and anchored with a single white flower. The bride carried a bouquet of white miniature calla lilies, cymbidium orchids, dahlias and antique hydrangea accented with lambs ear and eucalyptus berries and wrapped in ivory satin. An antique French linen handkerchief with the brides single-initial monogram accompanied the bouquet.
Stephen Blair Moseley of Rome, brother-in-law of the groom, was the best man. Groomsmen were Wright Williams Bagby III of Rome, Daniel Allman Carver of Columbus, Robert Burnett Harrington of Nashville, Tenn., brother-in-law of the bride, Scott Darell Haynes of Darien, Jason Dale Payne of Rome and Robert William Roe Jr. of Canton.
Robert Reid Harrington of Nashville, Tenn., nephew of the bride, and Stephen Blair Moseley Jr. of Rome, nephew of the groom, were the ring bearers.
The mother of the bride wore a two-piece sapphire silk taffeta ensemble. The blouse had a raised collar and three-quarter length sleeves with pleated cuffs and pleated peplum, and was accented with crystal button closures. The A-line skirt was floor-length with a demi train. The mother of the groom wore a floor-length espresso chiffon strapless gown with ruched bodice and sweep train. A copper tulle wrap completed the ensemble. The mothers of the bridal couple were presented with bouquets of ivory roses and the grandmothers were presented with corsages of Cymbidium orchids.
Following the ceremony, a reception was held at the home of the brides parents. Refreshments included the brides four-tiered square cake made with lemon cream cheese and raspberry pastry cream filling, covered in butter cream icing. Each tier was trimmed in latte moiré ribbon and decorated with Opium roses, dahlias, antique hydrangea and fall berries. The couples monogram adorned the top layer. The grooms two-tiered square and oval chocolate cake with butter cream filling and chocolate fudge icing featured the University of Georgia logo.
The evening before the wedding, the grooms mother hosted a southern hunt dinner at Forrest Place.
Other pre-nuptial parties included an engagement party at the home of Dr. and Mrs. Larry Formby hosted by friends and family; a lake party in Mentone, Ala., at the cabin of Mr. and Mrs. Tripp Bagby hosted by friends and family; a couples shower at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Harris Bagley hosted by friends and family; a linen shower held at the home of Annette Morris hosted by friends and family; a bridesmaids luncheon at Coosa Country Club hosted by Mrs. Mark Berry, Susan DeLong, Mrs. Jim Tayloe and Mrs. Charles Warner; a golf outing for the groom and groomsmen at Coosa Country Club by Mr. and Mrs. Tom Watters and Mr. and Mrs. John Ware and a wedding day brunch was held at the home of Dr. and Mrs. Park Avery co-hosted by friends and family.
After a wedding trip to Ocho Rios, Jamaica, the couple will reside in Rome.
