MISS BURGESS
Mr. and Mrs. David Byron Burgess of Canton announce the engagement of their daughter Amanda Ruth Burgess to Kyle Randall George of Boiling Springs, S.C., son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Randall George of Moore, S.C.

Miss Burgess, of Spartanburg, S.C., is a 2002 honor graduate of Rome High School, a 2006 magna cum laude graduate of Converse College in Spartanburg, S.C. with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in creative/professional writing and a minor in dance and a 2008 graduate of Fairleigh Dickinson University in Madison, N.J. with a Master of Fine Arts degree in creative writing. She was presented as a 2003 Rome Symphony Debutante.

She is the current Hub City Writers Project poetry winner and is employed as a therapist at HOPEReach in Woodruff, S.C., and as a dance instructor with the Lawson Academy at Converse College.

The bride-elect is the sister of Laura Burgess Martin of Smyrna. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. James Simeon Dalton Sr. of Calera, Ala., Mrs. Edwin Byron Burgess of Fort Payne, Ala., the late James Simeon Dalton and the late Edwin Byron Burgess. Her honorary grandparents are Mrs. Emmett Merle Love of Rome and the late Emmett Merle Love.

George is a 1998 graduate of Byrnes High School in Duncan, S.C., a 2000 graduate of Spartanburg Methodist College with an associate of arts degree in business and a 2006 graduate of the University of South Carolina Upstate in Spartanburg, S.C. with a Bachelor of Science degree in marketing and management. He is a circuit judge for the Miss South Carolina Pageant Association and is employed as a marketing representative with “The Greer Citizen” in Greer, S.C.

The groom-elect is the brother of Brian George of Lyman, S.C. and Kellie George of Boiling Springs, S.C. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Fred David George of Spartanburg, S.C. and the late Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Lee Fowler.

The wedding ceremony is planned for Saturday, April 4, 2009, in Twichell Auditorium at Converse College in Spartanburg, S.C.
