Five Rome residents were arrested and charged with possession of cocaine with intent to distribute and one resident was charged with possession of crack cocaine with intent to distribute after a search of a Hasty Road home Thursday night, reports stated.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
Rome-Floyd Metro Task Force issued a search warrant and drugs were confiscated at 303 Hasty Drive, reports stated.
In addition to cocaine, crack cocaine and marijuana being removed from the house, authorities also took scales and drug related objects, reports stated.
Quentin Bernard Spivey, 26, of 428 Moran Lake Road; Courtney Dewayne Slocum, 25, of 1970 Kingston Hwy.; Joshua Lasha Askew, 28, of 303 Hasty Road; Anthony Jason Barker, 46, of 1671 Morrison Campground; and Tiara Nisho Phenisee, 19, of 465 Moran Lake Road, were charged with felony possession of cocaine, felony possession of cocaine with intent to distribute and felony possession of firearm or knife and misdemeanor possession of marijuana less than 1 oz. while trying to commit crimes, reports stated.
Franklin Laquarta Foster, 31, of 279 Moran Lake Road, was arrested and charged with felony possession of cocaine and felony possession of crack cocaine with intent to distribute, reports stated.
In addition to these charges, Spivey, Foster, Askew and Barker also have been charged with felony possession of arms by convicted felons and first offender probation and misdemeanor obstruction or hindering law enforcement officers.
Identity fraud reported
Authorities are investigating credit card identity fraud, reports stated.
According to Rome police reports:
An unknown suspect has opened a credit card account using a womans personal information. The unknown suspect spent $5,000 on an account that was billed to the womans address, reports stated. No suspects were listed.
Man arrested for bad checks
An Alabama man is in jail this morning with a $1,250 bond on four felony issuance of bad checks charges, reports stated.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
Larry Philip Bates, 52, of 150 County Road in Gaylesville, Ala., was arrested Thursday on warrants stating he wrote around $1,500 in bad checks during the late part of 2006.
Bates wrote checks to the tune of $1,006.83 in October to the World Home Store, $641.29 in October to the Singer Sewing Center, deposited $26 in his account around that same time and wrote a $121.32 check to Sherwin Williams paint company.
He remained in jail this morning.
