A Rome man remained in jail Monday night after his Sunday arrest on stalking and false imprisonment charges, reports stated.

According to Floyd County police reports:

James Craig Knight, 48, of 22 Timberwood Drive, was arrested Sunday afternoon at a residence on Preacher Smith Road in Silver Creek.

Police went to the residence and tried to check on the welfare of two people inside, but no one responded. The doors to the house were locked, and after learning the resident inside had a temporary restraining order out against Knight, police made entry through the back door.

They found Knight with his arms around the victim, holding her in a “detaining manner.”

Knight was charged with felony false imprisonment, felony aggravated stalking, criminal trespass and simple assault.
