The Walk to Defeat Diabetes is scheduled for Oct. 4 at Ridge Ferry Park at Shoals Ferry, which is the north park near the gazebos, off Riverside Parkway in Rome.
Registration and check in begins at 8:30 a.m. and the walk starts at 9:30 a.m.
Participants will have Chick-fil-A chicken biscuits and Coca-Cola products on hand for all the participants and volunteers when they return thanks to Greg Major at the Dwarf House and Tony Ray with Rome Coca-Cola.
Walkers are encouraged to collect donations in advance and turn them in at the walk.
