Former Cartersville mayoral candidate Howard Gregory "Greg" Cordell, 42, of 127 Mitchell Drive, Cartersville, was indicted by a grand jury in Bartow County Superior Court in connection with the blaze that destroyed his $2.2 million home and subsequent alleged insurance and mortgage fraud.

The four charges brought against Cordell by the Georgia Office of the Insurance and Fire Safety Commissioner were two counts of first degree arson -- one for the company that insured the home and one for the bank that had a security interest in the home; residential mortgage fraud; and insurance fraud.
