GPS tracking lead police to stolen truck
A Silver Creek man and a Rome man were arrested for the theft of a F-250 Ford truck sometime early Wednesday morning, reports stated.
According to Rome Police and Floyd County Jail records:
Jarrett Todd Louallen, 20, of 1289 B Nethel Church Road in Silver Creek and David Anthony Blalock, 29, of 104 East 14th St. area charged with felony theft by taking. Louallen is also charged with parole violation.
The truck, which also contained a Lincoln Welder, was taken from Postell Steel at 1807 Hull Ave.
The police and owner used a GPS system in the truck to track down the location of the vehicle to Piedmont Highway. Police contacted Polk County 911 and Piedmont police to find the truck.
Two other vehicles, a Jeep and a Geo Prizm, were also vandalized.
Louallen is accused of stealing the truck and Blalock is accused of receiving the truck which he knew or should have know was stolen according to the report.
Both men remain in jail at this time.
Man accused of burglarizing multiple rental properties
A Rome man is in jail this morning on warrants that he burglarized at least two rental properties and stole items from another, reports stated.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
James Cambio Rounds, 44, of 17 ½ Elizabeth Street is charged with two counts of felony burglary and a misdemeanor count of theft by taking.
He is also charged with probation violation.
Sometime between July 15 and August 6, 2008 Rounds took a window air conditioning unit from 512 Avenue A Suite A, and a Roper refrigerator and stove from 94 A Northridge Court.
He is also accused from talking a Kenmore Washer and Dryer, valued at $400 from 508 Avenue A.
He remains in jail this morning.
Drug raid nets arrest
A Rome woman was arrested for dealing drugs from a house near the Boys and Girls club Wednesday, reports stated. According to Floyd County Jail records:
Tashona Monique Whitfield, 27, of 20 North Blanche St. is charged with felony possession of cocaine, possession of cocaine with intent to sell and possession of cocaine with intent to sell within 1000 feet of a recreation center.
Rome-Floyd Metro Task Force officers conducted a search of the area and the home and found Whitfield with cocaine packaged for resale. Also, officers found a Naproxen pills in Whitfields bedroom.
She is also charged with misdemeanor possession of marijuana less than one ounce and drugs to be kept in original container.
She remained in jail as of this morning.
Two air-conditioning thefts reported
Air-conditioning units were reported stolen this week, reports stated.
According to Rome Police reports:
A central heat and air unit, valued at $3,800, was reported stolen from the 100 block of West 6th Ave. The theft is suspected to have occurred some time between July 29 and August 12.
A complainant said that someone stole an air-conditioning unit from one of his rental properties on 300 North 5th Avenue sometime between July 28 and July 29.
Burglaries
A Rome woman told police that after returning home after four days she found her house on the 2000 block of Flannery Street burglarized, reports stated.
According to Rome Police reports:
The burglar took a Dell computer, valued at $800, a jewelry box and jewelry, valued at $400, and a Sony CD player, valued at $70.
In another burglary Thursday on the 100 block of Parris Drive a Sony Playstation, valued at $565; platinum wedding rings, valued at $1,200; and three games for the Playstation, valued at $140; were stolen.
The games were identified as Metal Gear 4, Bloodshot 2, and Assassins Creed.
