MRS. JUSTIN RITCHEY JORDAN
Rebekah Susanne Hannay and Justin Ritchey Jordan were married at 5 p.m., Saturday, May 24, 2008, in an outdoor military ceremony at the bride’s home in Rome.

The bride is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Keith E. Hannay of Rome. She is the grandaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Hannay of Lindale and the late Francis and Susan Cruce.

The groom is the son of Drs. Jim and Sarah Jordan of Blowing Rock, N.C. He is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Hal Jordan and the late Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Ritchie.

The Rev. Charles Cruce, uncle of the bride, performed the ceremony within a wrought iron trellis draped with greenery and flanked by matching arrangements of ferns and coral bells in wrought iron containers. A unity candle completed the setting. A memorial candle was lit to remember the best man, 1st Lt. Ronal Winchester, U.S. Marine Corps, who died in the line of duty while serving in Iraq.

A program of wedding music was provided by cellist Gwendolyn Watson; violinist Lori Gomez and viola player LeFoy Weber. Selections included “Canon in D,” “Jesu Joy of Man’s Desiring,” “Wedding March” and “How Beautiful.” Soloist Myra Dean sang “A Moment Like This” and “Love Will Be Our Home.” Jocelyn Jordan read I Corinthians 13:4-9.

The bride, given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, wore a gown of ivory satin featuring a strapless bodice with a lace overlay decorated in a subtle floral pattern with sequins and seed pearls. She wore a shoulder-length blusher edged in ivory satin and carried a bouquet of calla lilies, miniature hydrangea, Cymbidium orchids in varying shades of white, with green ornamental berries as accents.

Amanda Hannay, sister of the bride, was the maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Candice Branton and Keli Puckett, both of Rome, Anne Marie Bielfeld of Kennesaw and Sarah Jordan of Maryville, Tenn., sister of the groom. They wore strapless, satin coral dresses featuring fitted bodices with flared tea-length skirts with organza overlays. Gifts from the bride of freshwater pearl necklaces in varying shades of coral with matching earrings completed the ensemble. The bridesmaids carried bouquet clutches of calla lilies, miniature coral sweetheart roses, Cymbidium orchids and green ornamental berries.

Lt. Brian Broadwater of Lemore, Calif., was the best man. Groomsmen were Lt. Phil Yey of Jacksonville, Fla., Lt. Brian Bourgeois of Chesapeake, Va., Capt. Brad Wimsatt of New Bern, N.C., Scott Swantner of Washington, D.C., Joe Punaro of Arlington, Va., and Mark Hannay of Rome, brother of the bride.

At the conclusion of the ceremony, a sword arch was formed by military friends of the groom and Capt. and Mrs. Justin Jordan were introduced as husband and wife for the first time.

Following the ceremony, a reception was held at Forrest Hotel. Refreshments included the bride’s three-tier alternating carrot and vanilla cake with cream cheese frosting. Each layer was decorated with brown satin ribbon and miniature hydrangea. The groom’s cake was a two-tier cheese cake decorated with chocolate covered strawberries and surrounded by single layer cheese cakes designed with the insignia of the U.S. Marine Corps.

The evening before the wedding, the groom’s parents hosted a rehearsal dinner at La Scala Restaurant in Rome for the wedding party and out-of-town guests.

Other pre-nuptial parties included a miscellaneous shower at First Baptist Church in Lindale hosted by Nancy Henderson, Beth Hunter, Cathy Johnson, Betty Kuss and Elaine Lovely; a lingerie shower hosted by Candice Branton, Martha Millican and Glenda and Keli Puckett; a miscellaneous shower hosted by the pre-K teachers at Pepperell Primary; a bachelorette trip to Charleston, S.C. given by Melissa McMurry and Amanda Hannay; a bachelor golfing trip hosted by the groomsmen; a bridesmaid luncheon was given by Sandra Cooper, Ann Davis and Jo Jordan at the home of Sandra Cooper; a luncheon given for the groomsmen and out-of-town families at Harvest Moon Café on the day of the ceremony hosted by the groom’s aunts, Linda Shell and Faye Sokol, and a brunch at the bride’s home the following day hosted by Denise Letson and Myra Dean.
