Several Northwest Georgia teens are in Farmington, N.M., this week competing in the National High School Finals Rodeo. After five days of competition, the standings include:
Jodi Stewart of Fairmount, 10th in breakaway roping and 8th in breakaway roping AVG
Taylor King of Cedartown, 62nd in breakaway roping AVG and 106th in barrel racing AVG
Kassandra Smith of LaFayette, 77th in breakaway roping AVG and 93rd in goat tying AVG
Briana Brinkley of Summerville, 40th in pole bending and 38th in pole bending AVG
Dusty Swanson of LaFayette, 23rd in tie-down roping and 30th in tie-down roping AVG; 30th in team roping with Auston Thomas of Rome
Jacob Raburn of LaFayette, 38th in tie-down roping, 28th in tie-down roping AVG and 100th in steer wrestling AVG
Curt Mosley of Dalton, 59th in tie-down roping AVG
Auston Thomas of Rome, 75th tie-down roping AVG; 30th in team roping with Dusty Swanson of LaFayette
Casey Cason and Blake Arp of Aragon, tied for 24th in bareback riding AVG
Cody Pringle of Silver Creek, 36th in saddle bronc AVG
Cody Lanier of Summerville, 18th in steer wrestling and 11th in steer wrestling AVG
The rodeo started Sunday and runs through Saturday. It is held annually in July with more than 1,500 contestants from around the country competing for national titles, awards and scholarships.
