No decisions were made during a called Rome City School Board meeting concerning a personnel matter this morning.

The majority of the meeting was conducted as an executive session, which is not open to the public.

“The issue being discussed was a grievance issue concerning an employee,” explained Superintendent Gayland Cooper. He said the details of the issue needed to be discussed with the school board.

“No actions were taken or will be taken regarding the personnel issue,” said Judy Sims, chairwoman of the Rome City Board of Education.

For the next few weeks, the school board will be focused on finding a replacement for the remainder of the late Gene Clark’s term. Clark’s term was set to end Dec. 31, 2009.

Those interested in the position should send a resume by the end of the business July 30 to 508 East 2nd St, Rome, 30161.

Applicants must be a citizen of Rome, a registered voter and meet all board policies. Policies may be found on the Rome City Board of Education Web site or picked up at the superintendent’s office at the same address as above.

On Thursday, July 31, the board will have a meeting at 7:30 a.m. They will review letters and resumes, and contact qualified applicants. On Aug. 7, at 4 p.m., the board will begin holding interviews for the position. Both meetings will be open to the public.
