Fellowship Baptist Church will celebrate the arrival of new pastor Dale Levan in special services at 10:30 a.m. Sunday.
Levan and his wife, Wanda, will begin their ministry with a special welcoming service in which community leaders representing local Baptist churches, Rome and Floyd County Schools and the Rome City and Floyd County governments are expected to attend.
The Rev. Bob Skelton, interim pastor, said church members are excited about Levan and his wife moving to Rome from Lexington, S.C.
“He brings 28-years experience leading Southern Baptist churches in South Carolina,” Skelton said.
Dale and Wanda Levan hold advanced degrees from the Southwestern Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas. Wanda Lavan is the former Wanda Breeden, who grew up in West Rome Baptist Church.
“Wanda is especially happy about the move,” Skelton said, “because she is moving closer to her mother who lives in Summerville today.”
Levan is the son of a former Southern Baptist Pastor in South Carolina, and his father was active in the South Carolina Baptist Convention.
