A retrial date has been set for Kevin Redstrom, accused co-conspirator in the Mario Armas drug trafficking and money-laundering ring.
Jury selection begins July 21, with the trial expected to be scheduled later that week before U.S. District Court Judge Robert L. Vining Jr.
Earlier this year, a jury deadlocked at 10-2 to acquit on the conspiracy to distribute marijuana charge and 8-4 for acquittal on the money laundering conspiracy charge against Redstrom.
Redstrom originally pleaded guilty to the charges but withdrew that plea after Vining stated concerns about portions of the guilty plea.
Prosecutors stated Redstrom was not one of the main players in the conspiracy, but he turned the key in the ignition, creating the link between Armas and admitted drug smuggler Jimmy Collins who was not charged in the case.
Armas was sentenced to 15 years in federal prison in December 2007 for his role in the conspiracy. The Rome businessman also was recently indicted on armed robbery and aggravated assault charges in Floyd County Superior Court.

Harper-Reynolds hearings schedule set
Motion hearings in the Richard Scott Harper and Michelle Reynolds case are scheduled for July 21-22 in front of Floyd County Superior Court Judge J. Bryant Durham.
They are charged with murder, aggravated assault and aggravated battery in connection with the stabbing death of Reynolds husband, Thad John Glenn Reynolds, on July 5, 2004.
Both Harper and Reynolds were re-indicted in February after Floyd County District Attorney Leigh Patterson dropped a previous indictment in Superior Court because the defense stated the wrong person served on the grand jury.

The deadline for Entice Adult Superstore in Shannon to file its appeal with the U.S. 11th Circuit Court of Appeals was extended to July 15 from June 24 pending results of mediation.
The mediation is an attempt to reach a compromise in the case in lieu of more litigation.
The federal court appeal centers around U.S. District Court Judge Harold L. Murphys decision to uphold county and state ordinances barring explicit media outlets from property zoned within 1,000 feet of the property lines of schools, churches and residentially zoned property.
