A Rome man was arrested Wednesday morning and charged with possession of crack cocaine.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
Benjamin Larry Griffin, 54, of 16 Wimpee St., was arrested shortly after midnight during a traffic stop on Wilson Avenue.
During the patdown before his arrest, Griffin was found to have a crack pipe with cocaine residue in his pocket.
He was charged with felony possession of crack cocaine, driving while license sus-pended and parking a vehicle on the sidewalk.
He remained in jail on $10,950 bail.
Possession of meth
A Tennessee woman was arrested in Rome on Wednesday on traffic and drug charges.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
Shawna Nananette Green, 30, of 570 Lower Road, Rock-wood, Tenn., was arrested during a traffic stop on Ga. 53. Rome police discovered during the stop that Green was in possession of a small quantity of suspected meth and two pipes for smoking.
She was charged with pos-session of methamphetamine, speeding and cruelty to chil-dren. She remained in the Floyd County Jail Wednesday night without bail.
AC unit stolen from house
An air conditioning unit was taken this week from a house that is being remodeled.
According to Floyd County police records:
A victim on Juniper Street reported that sometime be-tween Sunday and Tuesday, a 2-ton home AC unit was taken from the house that was being remodeled.
The value of the unit was es-timated at $1,100. No suspects were named in the report.
Man: Cell phone and money stolen from house
A Rome man reported that a cell phone and money were taken from his house this week.
According to Floyd County Police reports:
A resident on Harrison Road called police to report that sometime on Tuesday, an unknown person entered his home. It was discovered that a Nextel cell phone and $20 were missing from the house. The phone was valued at $250.
It was also determined that the victims vehicle had appar-ently been entered and a ste-reo faceplate removed.
No suspects were identified in the report.
