Fight over child custody lands two in jail
A Silver Creek man and a Rome woman are in jail this morning after attacking the mother of a child while “removing the child from the custody of the mother,” reports stated.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
Wilburn Andrew Tucker, 19, of 78 Thompson Road is charged with felony cruelty to children, and misdemeanor battery, simple assault and underage possession of alcohol.
Jessica Rhea Tarr, 19, of 405 Margaret St. is charged with misdemeanor simple battery, interference with custody and cruelty to children.
Complainants stated that Tucker struck the mother of the child and a witness repeatedly while trying to take the child. Tarr allegedly struck the mother with an open hand, took possession of the child and would not return the child to the mother.
The witness, mother of the child and the child received visible injuries from the incident.
Rampage leads to arrest
A Rome man was arrested earlier this morning after strik-ing a 14-year old in the chest and damaging a residence, reports stated.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
Floyd Lee Leveston, 48, of 312 Forsyth St. is charged with felony cruelty to children, and misdemeanor cruelty to children, criminal trespass and simple battery.
Police say Leveston attacked a 14-year-old male, punched a hole in the kitchen wall and tore a kitchen door off the hinges in front of another juvenile male.
False imprisonment
A Rome man is in jail after threatening another person and not allowing them to leave the scene, reports stated.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
Aubrey Courtland Floyd, 32, of 412 Grady Ave. is charged with felony false imprisonment, and misdemeanor simple assault under the family violence act.
