July 3
The 2nd Annual 4th of July Jam Fest will be held July 3 through 5 at the Armuchee Music Park, 899 Turkey Mountain Road, former Armuchee Saddle Club. Admission is a one-time entrance fee of $5 and camping fees at $5 per night for tents and $11 for hook-ups. Barbecue and Brunswick stew will be available for purchase. A barbecue and fireworks Independence Day Celebration will be July 3 from noon to 10 p.m. at Rolater Park in Cave Spring. A Bug Run 50-mile Motorcycle Ride will be July 3 in Cave Spring with registration from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the gazebo in the town square. The ride begins at 7:15 p.m. for a cost of $15 per motorcycle.
July 4
Rome will hold its annual Salute to America fireworks show at Ridge Ferry Park on July 4. Festivities at the park along the Etowah River on Riverside Parkway will start at noon. Live entertainment is scheduled for 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., with the fireworks set for about 9:30 p.m. A special kids’ section — $10 per child for an all-day pass — will feature three inflatable waterslides: a wild rapids, a tropical dual slide and a tropical slip and splash.
The public is invited to view the Rome fireworks and participate in an Independence Day celebration at Oak Hill Church of Christ located on Martha Berry Boulevard behind the post office. There will be free food and drinks. For more information call 706-291-0351.
A swing dance and barbecue will be Friday at the Civic Center on Jackson Hill from 6:30 to 10 p.m. to benefit active military units. Donations of travel size hygiene products, magazines, CDs, books and cash to purchase phones cards will also be accepted from noon to 3:30 p.m. in the parking lot for those not attending the night event. Tickets are $25 per person and may be purchased at HairStory Salon by calling 706-204-8523.
The Cave Spring Independence Day Parade will be July 4 at 9 a.m. at the depot on Alabama St. Walkers are to line up on Alabama St., others line up on Perry Farm Road. For more information call 706-777-8743.
The Model Ruritan Club will hold a Barbecue and Brunswick Stew Sale July 4 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Shannon Scout Cabin. Proceeds go to the scholarship fund and other community projects.
