Man arrested on molestation charges; police make drug, burglary arrests

A Cave Spring man is facing felony child molestation charges after he was found with a 15-year-old by Floyd County Police during a traffic stop.

According to reports from the Floyd County Jail:

Alexander Herman Manning Jr., 19, of 102 Fincher St. in Cave Spring, was arrested Wednesday at 10 p.m. on Lyons Bridge Road in Lindale after police pulled him over. Police found that Manning was also in possession of less than an ounce of marijuana and had been driving while intoxicated.

Manning remains in the Floyd County Jail this morning on no bond waiting for a court appearance on charges of felony child molestation, misdemeanor possession of marijuana, driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs and for not wearing his seat belt.

Police arrest two on drug and concealed weapons charges

The Floyd County Police arrested a Silver Creek woman and a Cedartown man this morning on drug and concealed weapons charges after the two were pulled over and searched by police.

According to reports from the Floyd County Jail:

Paula Louise Elkins, 36, of 23 Shadowood Circle, and John Wesley Holcomb, 21, of a Cedartown address, were stopped by Floyd County Police at the corner of The Trail and Booze Mountain Road, and during the traffic stop searched the two and the car.

Police found a pipe in the vehicle with suspected methamphetamine residue and arrested Elkins on felony possession of methamphetamines.

When police searched Holcomb, they found metal knuckles concealed in his right rear pocket and took him into custody on a concealed weapons charge.

The two remain at the Floyd County Jail this morning waiting for a court appearance.

Jewelry burglar suspect nabbed by Rome police

A Rome man accused of taking jewelry from a South Elm Street home was taken into custody Wednesday after Rome police detectives found that he had warrants out for the crime.

According to Rome police reports:

Douglas James Bynum, 19, of 1 Delvue Place, was taken into custody after Rome police detectives found that he had felony burglary and theft by taking warrants related to a May 20 burglary where jewelry was taken.

Bynum remained in the Floyd County Jail this morning on the two felony charges along with a probation violation. He was not given bond.

Burglars get away with cash, electronics

Police are searching today for two suspects who burglarized a Billy Pyle Road home and took more than $8,000 in electronics and cash.

According to Rome police reports:

The two suspects were seen by a witness leaving the house on the 400 block of Billy Pyle Road Tuesday between 1 p.m. and 1:40 p.m. with $6,000 worth of electronics, including digital cameras, game systems, DVDs and video games.

The suspects also took $1,220 in cash and the bags they used to carry out the stolen electronics.

Police are following up on a lead given to them by the witness and are still investigating the crime.
