A Rome man remained in jail today after his arrest Friday on felony drug possession charges, reports stated.
According to Floyd County Jail reports:
Joe Lee Powell, 63, of 14 Lady Marian Drive, was arrested during a traffic stop Friday afternoon when police pulled him over for his window tinting being too dark. During the stop, police found he was driving on a suspended registration and no insurance and placed him in custody.
During a search, police found an undisclosed amount of crack cocaine that was more than for personal use.
Powell remained in jail awaiting a hearing on the drug possession charges.
DNR finds Calhoun camper with marijuana
A Gordon County man was arrested late Friday and later released when a Department of Natural Resources officer found him with marijuana, reports stated.
According to reports from the Floyd County Jail:
Brian Gene Sessions, 34, of Calhoun, was arrested at a campsite on John's Creek at 11:30 p.m. when a Georgia Department of Natural Resources officer found him at his camp site with a baggie of marijuana in his pocket.
Sessions was taken to the jail where he was booked on misdemeanor charges of possession of marijuana and possession of drugs in a vacation or wildlife management area. He was released this morning on a $1,250 bail.
