A Rome man arrested Thursday had fled from his home during a May 14 search by the Rome-Floyd Metro Task Force, reports stated.
According to reports from the Floyd County Jail:
Dwight Karem Hodges, 27, of 235 Alfred Ave., was arrested at 8:05 p.m. after a month long search. Last month, he jumped out of the window of a Fifth Avenue home that was being searched by the Rome-Floyd Metro Task Force and ran from police.
During the search, police found several baggies of cocaine and more than an ounce of marijuana.
Hodges is being held at the Floyd County Jail until a superior court hearing and is charged with felony possession of marijuana, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, felony possession of cocaine with intent to distribute and possession of cocaine within 1,000 feet of the Rome Housing Authority.
Men wanted for violent crimes arrested
Two men were arrested on warrants for violent crimes Friday around noon, reports stated.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
La Lyric Ortiz Griffin, 29, of 422 Central St. in Cedartown is being held on aggravated assault and aggravated battery warrants from Polk County.
David Eugene Fain, 43, of 102 Old Airport Road is charged with felony aggravated assault and terroristic threats and acts.
Police say he threatened two people after he was asked to leave an East Main Street establishment, left the establishment and then returned with a handgun. Complainants stated he fired the handgun into the air.
Louisiana, Rome men arrested after traffic stop
The Rome Police Department arrested two men on possession charges late Thursday after the two were pulled over for a broken tail light, reports stated.
According to Rome police reports:
Houston Hines, 19, of West Monroe, La., and Henry Andrew Priebe, 22, of 20 Burnett Ferry Road, were stopped in front of Priebes home Thursday at 11:40 p.m. after police noticed a tail light out on the vehicle.
While questioning the driver and the passenger, Hines placed rocks of crack cocaine in his mouth and began chewing, threatening to swallow the drugs. After both men were taken into custody, police found more suspected crack cocaine.
Hines later told police that his friend had bought the drugs for him for $40 and he was taking him home after the deal.
Both men remained at the Floyd County Jail this morning awaiting a superior court hearing.
Man breaks patrol car window after arrest
Rome police arrested a Lindale man and woman late Thursday after the man was found to be intoxicated and in possession of a crack pipe, reports stated.
According to reports from the Floyd County Jail:
Jeffery Dewayne Self, 34, of 107 Grove Ave., and Nikki Nevada Isola, 27, 103 Grove Ave., were taken into custody during a traffic stop when police found that the two were driving on a flat tire.
When police questioned Self, they suspected that he was intoxicated and asked him to step from the vehicle. He was found to have a revoked license and was ruled a habitual violator by the state of Georgia in April 2005.
Police then searched Self and the vehicle and found a glass pipe used for smoking crack cocaine, and another on the floorboard of the front passenger seat.
The two were taken into custody and both were charged with possession of crack cocaine. Isola remained in the Floyd County Jail awaiting a hearing in the superior court on the single charge.
Self was also charged with being a habitual violator, driving with a revoked license, driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs and interference with government property after he kicked out a window in the squad car on the way to the jail.
Two arrested for marijuana possession during road check
The Floyd County Police Department arrested two men Thursday during a road check, reports stated.
According to reports from the Floyd County Jail:
Cordaricus Hightower, 20, of 713 Oakland Ave., and Lonnie Tavares Lawrence, 29, of 613 Chulio Road, were arrested during separate stops Thursday while Floyd County Police were conducting a road check.
Hightower was found with a single marijuana cigarette and was charged with misdemeanor possession and was released from the jail early this morning on a $1,250 bond.
Lawrence was found at the road check to be holding a bottle of Budweiser in his hands and when patted down also was found with two baggies of marijuana less than an ounce. Lawrence was charged with driving with an open container and misdemeanor possession of marijuana and was released from the Floyd County Jail on a $1,250 bond.
