Hearings over how ambulances services respond in various zones in Floyd County could favor Redmond Regional Medical Center over Floyd Medical Center, but its too early to predict the final outcome, Region 1 EMS Program Director David Loftin said.
Loftin said the transportation committee of the Northwest Georgia Regional EMS System will meet Monday at 10 a.m. in Cartersville at Bartow County EMS to examine the issue. The Region 1 EMS Council will meet Aug. 8 at 11 a.m. at a location to be announced.
The final say rests with the states Department of Human Resources Board.
Redmond and Floyd Medical Center provide ambulance service throughout the county, but each is the primary responder in certain areas.
Redmond has the area around the hospital on Redmond Road and in Summerville Park, the area around Richard B. Russell Regional Airport and Cave Spring.
Redmond asked in January to take over the Coosa, West Rome and Garden Lakes zones from FMC after concerns surfaced about FMCs ambulance service.
