A state agency has fined a Rome car dealer $89,000 for 89 instances of failure to apply for a title in the retail purchasers name within 30 calendar days after the date of sale and, 89 instances of failure to furnish appropriate documents required for tag transfer to the retail purchaser within 30 days of purchase date, according to a news release issued today by the Georgia Secretary of States office.
When asked for a response, an employee at Raymond Smith Motorcars Inc., 1013 Martha Berry Blvd., said, Im sorry, we have no comment and hung up.
According to the Secretary of States news release, the Georgia State Board of Registration of Used Motor Vehicle Dealers met in Macon April 23 and voted to issue fines to 11 used car dealers around the state. The $89,000 fine was by far the largest; the next largest fine was $9,500 to SmartMove Auto LLC of Morrow.
B & M Motors LLC of Cartersville was fined $500 for one instance of failure to furnish appropriate documents required for tag transfer to the retail purchaser within 30 days of purchase date, according to the news release.
