Three Floyd Medical Center paramedics have been promoted to the rank of captain. They are Bobby Bates of Rockmart; Courtney Hice of Adairsville; and Dan Trimble of Calhoun.
Captains oversee the daily operations of EMS. They ensure crews are fully staffed and have the resources necessary to meet community emergency needs. It is also important that captains have demonstrated an ability to make good decision quickly as they respond to calls and assist with difficult rescues and critical patients.
These are some of our most experienced paramedics, so they are able to make these decisions instinctively and offer help to our younger staff, said James Coughlin, interim administrative coordinator.
