One driver was killed and a second one was seriously injured when their cars collided on Turkey Mountain Road earlier this evening, Floyd County police said.
According to Floyd County police officials and deputy coroner Tony Cooper:
Floyd County police said a BMW 525i, driven by Faith Delight Corino, 34, of Atlanta, was traveling east and crossed into the westbound lane and struck the driver of a Mitsubishi Eclipse about 6:40 p.m. near 2413 Turkey Mountain Road.
The driver of the Eclipse was identified as Secrett Davis of Hixson, Tenn. The 26-year-old was taken to Floyd Medical Center with visible injuries.
Cooper pronounced Corino dead at the scene at 7:40 p.m. Her body will be sent to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation lab in Summerville for an autopsy Monday.
Westbound traffic near the wreck, not far from Bells Ferry Road, was slowed to a crawl while traffic going eastbound was stopped for more than an hour.
Police said there were no passengers in either vehicle.
