One Floyd man and five Polk County men were in jail Tuesday night awaiting bond hearings on charges in connection with the seizure of $56,000 in crystal meth in Cedartown last week, reports stated.

According to a news release issued Tuesday by the Bartow-Cartersville Drug Task Force:

The Bartow - Cartersville Drug Task Force, along with agents from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (I.C.E.), Polk County Sheriff’s Office, Polk County Police Department and Cedartown Police Department, arrested the men March 20 after a three-month investigation, seizing some $56,000 in drugs, six vehicles and other items.

According to Bartow County Sheriff Clark Millsap and Cartersville Police Chief T.N. Culpepper, undercover agents with the drug task force and the GBI began purchasing quantities of crystal meth from one of the suspects in the Cartersville area.

During the operation, undercover agents negotiated a deal to include the purchase of approximately four pounds of crystal meth from this same suspect.

The investigation led agents to a residence at 265 Chestnut St. in Cedartown where they executed a search warrant and arrested the six men.

Agents seized more than four pounds of crystal meth, six vehicles, six firearms and numerous forged documents. The crystal meth had an estimated street value of $56,000.

Millsap said the investigation is ongoing and more arrests are possible.

The six remain in the Bartow and Polk county jails on immigration and custom holds.
