Traffic at Ga. 101 and Pleasant Valley Road was blocked for a time this afternoon because of a wreck with injuries at the site. Preliminary reports indicate there have been at least two injuries.
Traffic was backed up in both direction on the Rockmart Highway and on Pleasant Valley Road, which intersects Ga. 101 from the east. Traffic began to flow again at around 1:30 p.m. and the road opened completely shortly after.
Both drivers, identified as Rebecca McCoy, Rome, and A.D. Atkins, Kingston, were taken to Floyd Medical Center, Floyd County Police Pfc. Greg Beck said. Their injuries did not appear to be life threatening, he said.
McCoy was driving northbound in a white Honda when she was struck head-on by a white Toyota Camry driven by Atkins, who apparently crossed the centerline, Beck said.
