Gone With the Wind will conclude the summer film series at Oak Hill and The Martha Berry Museum Friday at 9 p.m. Admission is $5 per car and concessions will be provided. Movie will be shown at the Ford Auditorium in event of rain. For more information call 706-368-6775.

Chieftains Museum/Major Ridge Home announces the new exhibit, "Rivers Run Through It." Come and learn about the part the rivers played in the area from the time of the Cherokees to the early years of Rome's history. There are displays of ferries and riverboats and so much more! The three rivers brought people here, now see how we have used them. Now through Oct. 24. Chieftains is open Tuesday-Friday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Saturdays 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., call 706-291-9494.

Rome Area Songwriters Association presents “Songwriters in the Round” – free concerts with local artists performing their original music every second Thursday of the month at RACA, from 7 – 9 p.m. Held at Rome Area Council for the Arts, 248 Broad St.

An exhibit of vintage toys from the early 1900s through the 1970s will be on display through Sept. 15 at the Rome Area History Museum, 305 Broad St. The museum is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more information call 706-235-8051.

Queen City Market will be held Aug. 23 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Historic Marsh House, 308 North Main in LaFayette. Cost is $5. Event will showcase creative women and their cottage industries. The Booth Western Art Museum, 501 Museum Drive, Cartersville, will celebrate its five-year anniversary Aug. 23 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. with live entertainment, children’s activities and a cowboy hat decorating contest. Chieftains Museum/Major Ridge Home presents Tommy Wildcat Returns Aug. 29 at 7 p.m. Bring your family and lawn chairs as the Cherokee flutist shares the culture and music of the Cherokee with songwriter/storyteller Gary Greene from New Echota. The Rome Area History Museum will have its first Children’s Tea Party Aug. 30 from 3 to 5 p.m. for children age six to 12. The 2008-2009 season of the Cedartown Performing Arts Center opens Sept. 27 with 1960’s heartthrob Davy Jones. Other performers this season include the acclaimed gospel group Blind Boys of Alabama (Oct. 17); the world-famous Vienna Boys Choir (Nov. 1); the Lettermen (Feb. 7), whose hits include “The Way You Look Tonight” and “Goin' Out Of My Head”; and the folk group the Kingston Trio (April 17).
