Rome Music Teachers Association
The Rome Music Teachers Association recently presented a workshop at Shorter College conducted by George Mann of LaGrange College. Mann received his Bachelor of Music and Master of Music degrees from the College-Conservatory of Music of the University of Cincinnati. In 1971 Mann joined the faculty of Kansas State College of Pittsburg and in 1974 he came to the State University of West Georgia in Carrollton where he was professor of music until his retirement in the spring of 2002. Mann was adjunct faculty at Berry College for 2002-2004. He currently teaches at LaGrange College as well as in his home studio in Lithia Springs.
An article by Mann, Adding Expression and Style to Music of the Romantic Period, was published in the October, 2002 issue of Clavier Magazine. He was recently selected as the Georgia Music Teacher Association Teacher of the Year. Members attending the workshop were Pam Clarkson, Gina Hicks, Jane Holbrooks, Martha House, Rachel Jones, Mary Ann Knight, William Knight, David Oliver, Glenda Potts, Helen Ramsaur, Leigh Robison, Missy Thomas-Schmit, Peggy Whetstone and Sandra Yeargan.
