Columbus to vote on issue Tuesday
On Tuesday, Columbus residents will have one question on which to vote: Should its government have the power to create Tax Allocation Districts? The acronym "TAD" has been bandied about by government leaders, opponents of the measure and those active in the community, yet the word won't even appear on the ballot. State law sets the wording of the ballot question, which is: "Shall the Act be approved which authorizes Columbus, Georgia to exercise redevelopment powers under the 'Redevelopment Powers Law,' as it may be amended from time to time?"
