On hand were County Commission and City Commission members, Georgia Department of Transportation officials, representatives from the Chamber of Commerce and Airport Commission and administrators from Coosa Valley Tech.

Lawmakers Rick Crawford, Katie Dempsey and Barbara Massey Reece presented a Georgia flag to hang over the new building.

"It takes a partnership to make this kind of project work," said Jerry Jennings, Floyd County Commission chairman. "Coosa Valley Technical College is an awesome college with incredible and diverse programs and this adds another to a great list."

"This is writing a new page in the history of Rome and Floyd County," said Dempsey.

The aviation maintenance and avionics programs should begin in the fall 2008 quarter.
