| | Darlington Board of Trustees elects new members | | 06/06/07 From Darlington School Email this story to a friend Seven new members were elected to the Darlington School Board of Trustees after the spring meeting. They are: - Tommy Betts of Rome, project manager with Polk County Public Service Co., will serve as Parent Council representative as chairman of the Athletic Booster Club.
- Steve Brewster of Rome, president of Bagby Transfer and Store-More Self Storage, will serve as president of the Alumni Council for 2007-08.
- Laura Harbin Davis of Rome serves as Board member and advisory director for Rome Area Council for the Arts and Rome Area History Museum.
- Paul Erwin of Rome is the founder of Primrose Schools Franchising Company, and has over 30 years of experience in institutional and retail management.
- Norman Fletcher served on the Supreme Court of Georgia for over 15 years and was chief justice from 2001-2005.
- Emily Hjort of Rome, a former teacher, currently serves as an instructor/evaluator for Romes Babies Cant Wait Intervention Program and a sales representative for CAbi Clothing.
- Jeff Mauer of Rome is president of Zartic, a division of Pierre Foods Inc.
The following Board members were re-elected: Bill Jordan of Fort Payne, Ala.; Bill Kelly of Rome; Bill Watters of Rome; Jamie Wilson of Atlanta; and Gardner Wright of Rome.
Returning officers include chairman John Irby of Atlanta; vice chairman Frank Stegall of Rome; and treasurer Bill Smith of Atlanta.
Retiring Board members include Mark Manis, Linda Owens, Julius Shaw, Larry Williams, Britta Stern, Dwight Hutchins, Will Enloe and Nancy Brant.
