The 17th annual Georgia State Games will be held next month in the Greater Atlanta Area. Dates are July 7-8 and July 12-22.
The State Games are a sports festival open to Georgians of all ages and skill levels. Nearly 10,000 participants from 110 counties participated in the 2006 Championship Games. Often referred to as Georgia's Olympic Games, the State Games is an event that all Georgians can participate in -whether they are a recreational athlete or a top Olympian.

There are 42 different sport offerings in the State Games with the following still open for registration: Archery, Badminton, Baseball-Adult & Youth, Basketball-Boy's/girls, Billiards, BMX, Bowling, Boxing, Cycling (Criterium & Road Race), Diving, Equestrian, Flag Football, Judo, Lacrosse, Racquetball, Roller Hockey, Rowing, Rugby, Running - Road Race (5K & 10K), Shooting (Shot Gun, BB Gun, International & more), Softball (adult & youth), Swimming-Recreational Youth, Swimming-Open Water, Table Tennis, Tennis (Adult & Juniors), Track & Field (Youth, Open & Masters), Ultimate Frisbee, Volleyball (Indoor & Outdoor), Water Polo, Weightlifting (Olympic & Power) and Wrestling (Folk, Free & Greco).
The Georgia State Games are a 501(c) 3 charitable nonprofit organization, with the mission of promoting physical fitness and healthy lifestyles to all ages.
