... ...Rome News-Tribune editorial cartoonist and illustrator Mike Lester has added yet another feather to his cap after winning a National Cartoonist Society award.
Lester received the Society's top award for book illustration for his work in the book “Ninety-Three in my Family” at the Society’s 61st annual Reuben Awards Banquet, held Saturday at the Ritz Carlton Hotel in Orlando, Fla.
“We won the children’s book division, and I want to thank the students at North Heights Elementary, Ms. Ginger Rowston and the students,” Lester said. “I want to thank them for wishing me luck, and it worked, because we won!”
Lester was also nominated along with two others in the editorial cartooning category.
Lester has been the editorial cartoonist for the Rome News-Tribune since 2002. His editorial cartoons appear on the Opinion page of the Rome News-Tribune and on www.romenews-tribune.com, and he is syndicated by Cagle Cartoons.

20 years, Lester has created images and illustrations for advertising campaigns of major corporations as well as illustrating for national magazines, writing and illustrating children’s books as well as games, gifts and licensed products.
Earlier this year he was named as a recipient of a Sigma Delta Chi Award in Editorial Cartooning from the Society of Professional Journalists and will receive that award in July.
