Drug sting uncovers meth worth $150,000 in Cartersville; five suspects arrested

Federal, state, and local law enforcement officials arrested five suspects on meth charges Wednesday in Bartow County.

According to a joint statement released by Bartow County Sheriff Clark Millsap and Georgia Bureau of Investigations (GBI) Special Agent J.P. Foster:

A drug investigation resulted in the seizure of 10 pounds of “ice” methamphetamine and the arrest of five suspects. The meth was seized in the parking lot of a restaurant on Ga. 20 in Cartersville.

The seizure resulted in the arrests of: Ramiro Ochoa-Penaloza, 37; Argelia Pireda Munoz, 24, and Augustin Salgado, 30, all of Norcross; and Iliona Aracell Zeleya-Lopez, 34, and Jose Antonio Gonzalez-Mendez, 44, both of Doraville. All were charged with one count of trafficking methamphetamine.

The methamphetamine was valued at $150,000. According Foster the investigation was conducted with the assistance of the Haralson/Paulding County Drug Task force, Polk County Sheriff’s Office, GBI Region One (1) Office, The Conasauga Safe Streets Task Force, agents and deputies of the Bartow County Drug Task Force and Sheriff’s Office, the Cartersville Police Department., and The Georgia State Patrol Aviation Division.
