The undead were out in some rather ghoulish numbers Saturday afternoon as representatives for the movie Dance of the Dead held open call auditions in Rome for production extras.
More than 300 people showed up at Heritage Hall with hopes of snagging one of the extra roles for the movie, said Stephen Caudill, associate producer for the film.
Most of the extras will be acting as zombies in the movie.
Gregg Bishops film Dance of the Dead will be filmed on locations around Floyd County, including the old Coosa Middle School.
Zombie hopefuls of a wide range of ages turned out for the extras casting.
Each participant was asked to bring a headshot and/or resume. A photographer was on hand to take photos of anyone who didnt bring one.
Chris Cox, 29, of Rome, said he came to the open call casting just to do it.
Its something new to do, he added.
Caudill said the next step will be to go over the photographs with the director. He said certain types or ages of people are needed for different scenes.
Well look at the photos then look at availability, Caudill said.
He said close attention would be given for faces that will work well with the makeup thats planned to turn ordinary people into undead creatures.
Extras will also need to be fitted for their wardrobes.
Once extras are selected, they will be called to confirm their availability for filming April 9 through April 14.
Caudill said those chosen as movie extras would be contacted about a week before production starts.
Shooting begins right after Easter and will continue into early May.
