Catherine Collins Davidson of Rome and Nicholas Norwood Bland of Aiken, S.C., were married at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 17, 2007, in Morris Chapel at Darlington School.
The bride is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Gene Grant Davidson of Rome. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. John E. Bauhofer of Goldsboro, N.C., and the late Mr. and Mrs. G. Raymond Davidson.
The groom is the son of Dr. and Mrs. James Laval Bland Sr. of Aiken. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. William Edward Cato of Aiken and the late Mr. and Mrs. James Bland.
The Rev. Scott Alan Jackson of Rome and Browning Montgomery Wood of Orlando, Fla., performed the double-ring ceremony before an altar adorned with Southern magnolia. A brass candelabra decorated with magnolia enhanced the chancel area and the all-white communion table accented the altar area. Altar candles were lit in memory of Mr. and Mrs. John R. Bauhofer, Mr. and Mrs. G. Raymond Davidson and Mr. and Mrs. James Bland. Communion was served. A small Bible given to the bride at her birth by her maternal grandparents was placed on the kneeling bench.
A program of wedding music was provided by organist Neil Allen Sanders, trumpeter Douglas Wayne Walker, guitarist Browning Montgomery Wood and vocalists Mr. and Mrs. Gary David Hibbs, uncle and aunt of the bride. Selections included Arioso by Bach, The Lords Prayer by Malotte, Saint Anthony Chorale by Haydn, Prince of Denmark by Clarke, Uncreated One by Tomlin/Walt, Rigaudon by Campra and Hornpipe by Handel.
Program attendants were Elizabeth Aileen Hortman, Elizabeth Summer Jones, Mary Elizabeth Montgomery and Sara Louise Pate, all of Rome.
Virginia Lauren Davidson of Rome, twin sister of the bride, was maid of honor.
Bridesmaids were Christina Blanchard Brewer of Atlanta, Allison Elizabeth Johnson of Rockhill, S.C., Mary Charlotte Shearer of Milledgeville, cousin of the bride, Margaret Beth Erwin, Melissa Faith Sumner and Courtney Rae Williams, all of Rome, and Emily Elise Maddox of Atlanta, cousin of the bride.
The honorary bridesmaid was Alice Allgood Cooper Griffin of Rome. She carried a long stem pink rose.
Attendants wore bronze Dupiona silk floor-length strapless dresses featuring a Dupioni fringed sash. They wore three-strand pearl bracelets, gifts from the bride, and the maid of honor wore diamond and pearl drop earrings and a pearl bracelet, also gifts from the bride. They carried clutch bouquets of soft pink roses, bouvardia and hyacinths interspersed with green hydrangea and wrapped in chocolate.
Junior bridesmaids were Anneliese Grace Hibbs and Garlyn Catherine Hibbs both of Sparta, N.J., cousins of the bride. They wore bronze Dupiona formal-length dresses and pearl bracelets.
The bride, given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, chose a strapless formal ivory pearl gown featuring a pearl and crystal embellished bustier top with a full ivory silk shantung pick-up skirt and chapel-length train. She wore a cathedral-length veil bordered with peau dange lace, which was also worn by her mother and handmade by her maternal grandmother. She also wore a pearl necklace and earrings given to her by her parents. She carried a lace handkerchief given to her by her paternal grandmother. She carried a clutch bouquet of green and white hydrangea, white bouvardia and white hyacinths collared with dusty miller and lambs ear. Green wheat accented the bouquet.
Patrick Richard Bland, twin brother of the groom, was best man. Groomsmen were Jared Thomas Churchill Blakey of Marietta, Blake Anthony Cole and Brandon Doogan Cole, both of Duluth, Jonathan Robert Ables and John Simon Cochran, both of Gainesville, Scott Douglas Berl of Moultrie, Hans Bauhofer Davidson of Tallahassee, Fla., brother of the bride, and Jeremy Jewell Maddox of Pendergrass.
Clinton Reid Moore of Aiken was honorary groomsman.
The mother of the bride chose a black silk full-length suit. The jacket featured bell sleeves with black crystal beading, and the mermaid skirt featured a train also accented with black silk embroidery and encrusted with black crystal beads. The mother of the groom wore a black chiffon full-length gown featuring a matching formal jacket embellished with black beading. The grandmothers of the bridal couple were presented with white rose corsages.
Following the ceremony, a reception was held at Coosa Country Club. The bridal couple was transported in a vintage family automobile. Guests were welcomed by Dr. and Mrs. Alan Lee Bowen of Rome. Refreshments included the brides four-tier confection iced in white butter cream. Each layer alternated round and hexagon in shape and was filled with butter cream. The entire cake featured ivory sugar dots, and the top of the cake was decorated with handmade ivory sugar roses. The cake was presented on a silver plateau.
The evening before the wedding, the grooms parents hosted a rehearsal dinner at Coosa Country Club. The grooms chocolate kahlua cake with fresh strawberries dipped in chocolate was the featured dessert.
On the day of the wedding, refreshments were furnished to the wedding party by Lee Young and Susan Robinson.

After a wedding trip to St. Kitts in the French West Indies, the couple will reside in Boston, Mass.
