Faye Hudson of Polk County has been chosen to serve as Coosa Valley Technical College's delegate to the 2007 EAGLE Leadership Institute at the Sheraton Buckhead Hotel in Atlanta Feb. 8-9. One current student or GED graduate of the Adult Education Programs in the Technical College System of Georgia, Dalton State College, Coastal Georgia Community College, and several school systems are being chosen for this opportunity. The staff at the Polk County Adult Learning Center in Rockmart nominated Hudson.
The EAGLE Leadership Institute is a professional development opportunity designed primarily to recognize and honor adult education students and graduates who have demonstrated superior achievement; their adult education instructors; and program directors. Delegates attend training sessions designed to enhance their understanding of current issues related to employment, citizenship, and community and how the adult education program fits into the larger picture of economic development in Georgia. There will be more than 100 Georgians in attendance at this year's institute.
The student/graduate delegates who have won this distinction will also be asked to represent the schools and colleges in various ways as EAGLES, "Exceptional Adult Georgians in Literacy Education".
Hudson was a 2006 GED graduate of Coosa Valley Technical College's Adult Education Program, and received the "Achievement of a Lifetime Award" at the 2006 graduation ceremony. Her nominating instructor Anne Clay, and program director Susan Hackney, will accompany her to the EAGLE Institute in February.
