A 2-year-old girl was struck and killed Saturday by a car driven by her mother, according to authorities.
Denise Carolin Gramajo was hit as her mother backed out of a parking place at Heritage Pointe Apartments, where the family lived.
Denise was pronounced dead at the Floyd Medical Center Emergency Room Trauma Unit at 5:50 p.m., according to deputy corner Tony Cooper.
Cooper said the cause of death will be determined by the Georgia Bureau of Investigations crime lab, as mandated by law in juvenile deaths.
Cooper said the parents lost track of Denise after they returned home from a laundry mat. Wilber Gramjo, 24, reportedly was unloading a car and Heidy Gonzalez, 21, got into a second vehicle and backed up, hitting her daughter.
Rome police who investigated the fatality could not be reached for comment Saturday.
