The Rome Braves' game on tonight against Columbus was suspended due to heavy storms that moved through the Floyd County area.
Shortly after 9 p.m., with Rome and Columbus playing in the bottom of the fifth and the Catfish leading the Braves 5-0, umpires cleared the teams off the field. The heavy downpour soaked the field, so officials decided around 9:30 p.m. to resume Monday's game on Tuesday.
The game will pick up right where it left off, with Rome batting with two outs in the bottom of the fifth and the bases loaded.
Tuesday's regularly scheduled game will be shortened to seven innings and played after the completion of the first game.
Also, Rome Braves catcher Cody Clark was taken to the hospital for observation after apparently getting hit in the throat with a ball during the game. He was reported to be doing well late on Monday night.
