Eddie Hasko, owner and proprietor of Bella Roma, answers the questions for today’s Small Busi-ness Snapshot. What is the primary purpose of your business? Bella Roma exists to provide our customers with excellent food, service and a friendly atmos-phere. Our new patio and renovated dining room reflect a mix of Tuscan and Roman design, so our customers can experience a European meal right here in Rome. We strive to please every customer with a great meal, efficient service and friendly conversation. Sports enthusiasts can also always count on finding cycling or a soccer match — especially during the World Cup — on the big screen television. What is your business background? I have managed restaurants for 14 years including the Marietta Diner, Gondoliers, and Berry’s dining hall and Valhalla. The chefs — my two brothers — trained and worked in restaurants in Italy and have brought this experience to Rome.
Why did you start this particular business? It’s the business we know best.
What makes your business unique? A beautiful family atmosphere, the quality of the food, clean and friendly service, and a big menu to choose from meals prepared in-house.
What do you enjoy most about your chosen profession? You meet a lot of people.
What has been the biggest challenge to overcome as a small business owner? To find good people who work hard.
Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers? First, I want to thank Larry Mar-tin for helping me to build and open the restaurant, and then the cycling club, the soccer team, and a lot of my friends who helped to get it open. Also, a “thank you” to Romans for your busi-ness. It has been great.
