Shorter College’s winter opera, “Orpheus in the Under-world (in English),” will continue through Jan. 15 in Callaway Theatre. Jan. 19

Berry College presents “A Mandala in Flames,” a lecture by Sthaneshwar Timalsina, assistant professor of Hinduism at San Diego State University, at 7 p.m. in the science audito-rium at Berry College. Admission is free.

Shorter College Friends of Theatre will host a reception at the home of Dr. and Mrs. Hamilton Dixon at 7 p.m. Enter-tainment will be provided by Shorter College theater stu-dents and New York casting director Dave Clemmons. Tickets are $25 and may be purchased by calling 706-233-7288. All proceeds will benefit the scholarship fun for Shorter theater students.

The Rome Area Council for the Arts and Berry College present a “Bach Festival Weekend” in the Ford Auditorium at Berry College. Musicians will perform the six “Brandenburg Concertos” in two concerts, with the second on Jan. 22. The Saturday concerts begin at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday and 3:30 p.m. on Sunday. The Berry College Theatre Company will present “Ob-serve the Sons of Ulster Marching Towards the Somme,” a play following the experiences of eight volunteers with the 36the Division at the beginning of World War I, in the E.H.
