FRIDAY
The Historic Floyd County Courthouse will close Friday at 1:30 p.m. for Georgia Power to begin rerouting power lines as part of the work on the adjacent parking lot. The Tag Office, Property Tax Office, Mobile Home Office and Tax Assessors offices will be closed that afternoon, but will resume normal business hours beginning Monday 6 at 8 a.m. As a convenience to customers wanting to renew their tags, a drop box is located in front of the Judicial Building courthouse. Customers can drop off the renewals and not receive a late penalty.
The MOMs Group of Oak Grove Baptist, Adairsville, will hold a series of event this month. Chieftains Museum / Major Ridge home presents Barbara Reeves, Debby Brown, Gary Greene, Jane Cunningham and Mary Elena Kirk in Honoring Cherokee Tales Saturday at 7 p.m. Admission is free, but seating is limited. Join local storytellers as Chieftains Museum honors the Cherokee tales that were told more than 150 years ago. After the stories you may tour the museum. This program and free admission is being offered as a preview to the PBS series, Our American Experience We Shall Remain, episode 3, The Trail of Tears, which will be shown April 27.
