LANGSTON--One student suffered a shot in the shoulder on Tuesday at Langston University. The student, whose identity has not been released, was shot once in the left shoulder at the Centennial Court Apartments, at about 3:30 p.m., Officer Neal Galbraith said.
The officer is with the campus police force.
The victims injury is not life-threatening, Officer Galbraith told reporters.
He said police have a suspect, and had detained several witnesses for questioning, but no one had been arrested.
He would not say whether the detained persons were Langston students.
I saw the boy [who] got shot running down the stairs with two others, Jeshaiah Love, a sophomore, said, noting that a loud boom had drawn her out of a friends apartment near the shooting.
He was holding his shoulder, she continued, and it was bleeding in the front and back.
Paramedics took the victim to a Guthrie hospital, and Officer Galbraith said he was in fair condition.
Now, campus police and agents of the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation are trying to determine whether the shooting was accidental or intentional.
The campus was not locked down after the shooting, and continued to operate normally, Officer Galbraith noted.
