There are a number of other selections to be made by voters on Election Day, and these are our endorsements:

„P U.S. Sen. Jim Inhofe (Rep., Okla.) is the recipient of a weak challenge from a weak candidate barely elected over a second-rate opponent faced by Andrew Rice during the Democratic primaries.

Mr. Rice is a yet-wet-behind-the-ears state legislator who took a seat in the Legislature, it seems, just a few months ago, appearing to have believed his own overblown opinion of his capabilities and talents.

He should not have run.

Sen. Inhofe should be reelected because of his strong support of commerce and industry, and general tried-and-true steadiness.

We endorse Sen. Inhofe¡¦s reelection.

„P U.S. Rep. Frank Lucas (Rep., Okla.) is facing lukewarm opposition from a Democrat, and should be reelected.

Congressman Lucas has shown himself to be a dependable supporter for legislation beneficial to agricultural issues and in support of conservative social positions, so, we encourage voters in Congressional District 3 to vote for him.

„P U.S. Rep. Tom Cole (Rep., Okla.) most recently demonstrated his leadership when he voted the first time to support the Bush administration¡¦s necessary Wall Street bailout package.

That was a courageous vote, considering how much silliness was going on at the time, with congressmen not doing what needed to be done.

Congressman Cole is among the most outstanding legislators Oklahoma has ever sent to Washington. He should be reelected to his District 4 seat!

„P U.S. Rep. Mary Fallin (Rep., Okla.) continues to distinguish herself as a congresswoman, who is a quick study and a dependable conservative vote.

She voted incorrectly the first time for the bailout package, but did the right thing when the House of Representatives re-voted on the measure, citing some adjustments made in the original bill.

She is facing opposition for her District 5 seat, and we strongly endorse her candidacy.

„P State Reps. Mike Shelton and Anastasia Pittman (Dem., Oklahoma City) both appear to have grown to some extent while representing District 97 and District 99, respectively.

Perhaps with another term for both of them, they will become legislators of some worth.

They should be reelected over their Republican opponents.

„P Justices John F. Reif, Tom Colbert and Joseph M. Watt are all on the Nov. 4 ballot, and voters may decide whether to retain them in their seats on the Oklahoma Supreme Court.

All of them should be retained.

„P Judges Charles A. Johnson and Gary L. Lumpkin both should be retained in their separate positions on the Oklahoma Court of Criminal Appeals.

„P Judges Jerry L. Goodman, Jane P. Wiseman, Keith Rapp and John F. Fischer all deserve to be retained in their separate positions on the Oklahoma Court of Civil Appeals.
