State Parks: beauty and diversity

The state of Idaho has set aside land for a total of 20 state parks, including:

  • Bear Lake
    Southeastern Idaho, south of Montpelier. Offers swimming, boating, camping and fishing. For more information, call (208) 847-1045.
  • Bruneau Dunes
    Southwestern Idaho, south of Bruneau. Includes the highest single sand dune in North America. Offers hiking and fishing. For more information, call 366-7919.
  • Eagle Island
    Southwestern Idaho, near Eagle. A day-use park open between Memorial Day and Labor Day. The park offers swimming and water slides as long as staff are on hand. For more information, call 939-0696.
  • Harriman
    Southeastern Idaho, north of Ashton. Offers fly fishing and the “Railroad Ranch” cabins. For more information, call (208) 558-7368.
  • Henry’s Lake
    Southeastern Idaho, north of Ashton. Offers fishing, boating, water skiing and swimming. For more information, call (208) 558-7532.
  • Lucky Peak

  • Malad Gorge

  • Massacre Rock

  • Ponderosa

  • Three Island Crossing
