Community Events
There are many events across the Treasure Valley that celebrate seasons and promote community causes on an annual basis. Here is a snapshot of some of them.
  • Art in the Park, Boise. The weekend after Labor Day each year (Sept. 6-8, 2002), the Boise Art Museum sponsors an annual festival to display the crafts of Northwest and Idaho artists. Visitors also enjoy food and entertainment during this weekend. For more information, call the museum at 345-8330.
  • Beaux Arts Holiday Sale, Boise. This holiday arts and crafts sale raises funds for the Boise Art Museum and is sponsored by the Beaux Arts Society. It takes place Nov. 9-13, 2002. For more information call the Boise Art Museum, 345-8330, ext. 26.
  • Boise River Festival, Boise. June 28-30 Treasure Valley residents will flock to the Festival to enjoy three days of sporting events, entertainment, food, parades and fireworks. For more information, call 338-8887.
  • Cinco de Mayo - Treasure Valley residents celebrate the Mexican victory over the French with food, arts and crafts and entertainment.
  • Caldwell Buckaroo Breakfast - The Caldwell Chamber of Commerce sponsors a pancake and sausage breakfast in conjunction with the Caldwell Night Rodeo, which is Aug. 13-17 this year. The breakfast (Aug. 13-16) is held at the Albertson College of Idaho campus on Cleveland Boulevard. Kiwanis also sponsors a chuckwagon dinner of steak sandwiches and all the corn on the cob you can eat. 459-7493.
  • Festival of the Arts - The city of Nampa sponsors a two-day Festival of the Arts in Lakeview Park on Aug. 10 and 11. All arts and crafts are handmade and created by the vendors. Hobbyists are welcome to display their skills. 318-2295.
  • Nampa Community Fun Night - The city of Nampa sponsors a free fun night with games for children, music, dancing and food concessions usually in late August or early September, in front of the Nampa Civic Center, 311 3rd St. S. In 2002, the event will be on Aug. 15. 465-2252.
  • National Oldtime Fiddlers’ Contest, Weiser. International fiddlers will swarm to Weiser June 16-21, 2003, to compete for the Grand Champion title. More than 15,000 visitors attend the contest. For more information call (800) 437-1280.
  • Old Fort Boise Days, Parma. In late May or early June, Old Fort Boise historical site is opened to visitors who want to experience the life of pioneers in southern Idaho. Guests may also sample food, entertainment and games.
  • Parade America, Nampa. The largest patriotic parade in the Northwest, featuring floats sponsored by area businesses, clubs and organizations, entertains residents each May.
  • Snake River Stampede, Nampa. Third week of July (July 16-20), this rodeo offers entertainment, a parade and competitive cowboy events at the Idaho Center. For more information call 442-3232.
  • Ste. Chapelle Jazz at the Winery, Caldwell. Each Sunday during the summer through August, the winery treats visitors to a jazz concert series. For more information call 459-7222.
  • Wagon Days, Ketchum. A parade, antiques, food and entertainment help visitors get a taste of Idaho history at this event held Aug. 30-Sept. 1. Call 208-726-3423.
  • ‘We the People’ Fourth of July Parade, Boise. Just before the annual fireworks display, the community is treated to a parade organized and run without business sponsorship. For more information call 363-0757.
