An organ concert, featuring Erik Meyer of Erie PA, will take place at Grace Church on Sun Mar 21 at 4pm. Meyer, a Collingswood native, began his organ studies at the age of thirteen. He studied with the Lutheran pastor, organist, and composer, J. Bert Carlson.
Meyer has won several organ and composition competitions, including the highly competitive 2006 and 2008 National Young Artist Competition in Organ Performance, sponsored by the American Guild of Organists. He is an adjunct faculty member at Mercyhurst College where he teaches organ.
Meyer will perform Fanfare by Leo Sowerby, an original work titled Six Sketches on Childrens Hymns, Introduction and Passacaglia in F Minor by Max Reger, Gospel Prelude on What a Friend We Have in Jesus by William Bolcom, and Five Dances by Calvin Hampton.
The organ concert will be the fifth program in the Churchs Arts at Grace series. A free-will offering will be accepted at the door.
